Charming cream embroidered dress from the late 1930s, by Jane Whitney for "the Paris", I can not find too much information about this designer but The Paris might refer to the NYC hotel which was open for business at this time. The fabric feels like a blend of rayon or rayon/cotton, a slight cozy feel (possibly a little wool) and best for transitional seasons! Side hooks to secure, these are a little oxidized but work just fine, large hip pockets which are a lovely feature! Overall the dress presents beautifully, a few tonal changes as might be expected from a lighter colored dress from this era. The dress is well cleaned with a few smudges and very faint areas of discoloration near shoulders and underarms, these are not noticeable when worn, more visible after an inspection. Post cleaning tidal-like mark on upper shoulder near buttons, (buttons are replacements). Please feel free to email queries prior to purchase, the dress is sold as is and would make a lovely addition to an embroidery collector's closet! (I have given a small range in the fit notes below as in my opinion these 30s dresses appear best with a little drape)
