Oil Portrait by Evelyn Buff Segal / c.1940s

Definitely one of my favorite portraits ever found for the shop. Original c.1940s oil painting by listed NY artist Evelyn Buff Segal, 1915-2000. Segal studied at the Arts Student League in NY and was active both here in the US as well as internationally, most notable developing her style further with time spent predominantly in Nigeria. The striking red lips stand out vividly against beautifully executed shadow tones. Solid silver tone wooden frame. Faint marking in the lower right corner that almost appears to be the signature but illegible. *conflicting birth dates of 1913 + 1915 found online.
