Truly wonderful 1920s textile, large enough to be used as a bed cover, large table cover or would make a fabulous curtain, I had to take it outside to capture the full beauty of the embroidered netting. Original use is likely a bed canopy cover. The colors and attention to detail in the embroidery are exquisite. Classical dancing figures with beautiful clothing, complete with straps coming off shoulders and split skirts flowing with movement. The only text is "Avril" and a smaller depiction of angelic children digging, seems like an homage to spring and maybe a welcome light addition to a bed after a heavy winter of quilts! Not in pristine condition but in very, very good condition for the antiquity with quality embroidery revealing a great eye for color and detail. 3 scalloped edges with one left simply hemmed. The stitches here could be undone and a curtain rod threaded through for a gorgeous curtain or room divider.

condition: very, very good, see close ups. The piece was cleaned but I don't recommend over-cleaning as it will shift the dyes and put stress on antique fibers. Gorgeous just as it is. Small hand repair, a few pulls in the embroidered threads and very faint purple dye run near one of the ladies, but presents beautifully for 100 years of age. Additional photos available upon request. Faint marks well-concealed by sheer size and quality of the piece.
