Harlequin Performer Drawing / 1948

The skillfulness of the black paper as shadow in this drawing is just so wonderful. Evokes a stage setting with the figure backlit and light on the left side of the face. The folds in the sleeves and set feet are also standout features of this drawing. The drawing is signed Makerman, '48. Simple painted wooden frame that could easily be replaced for a larger frame with mat which would make this drawing even more special. 

condition: backing paper removed. Glass and frame intact.
